Scope

Interior Restaurant Renovation

Project

One enters the stark, minimal restaurant space from two opposite sides, from 33rd Street or from inside the Empire State Building. A minimal ceiling with a consistent pattern of spotlights connects the two entries. Instead of using a feature wall behind the chefs, the design implemented a non-feature wall that reflects the lit ceiling slots. To offset the tech aesthetic, the sushi counter is clad in traditional Japanese Shou-sugi-ban wood siding.
